Project Description
Regenesis Israël has joined early February 2021 the rank of 28 local green organizations to deal with an enormous issue that has appeared with the new treaty between Israël and the United Arab Emirates.
We are about to face a serious ecological hecatomb, if we do not take action.
With the Peace treaty signed a few months earlier, some “fruitful” economical projects are under way whom the public is not aware of. In October 2020, EAPC European-Asia Pipeline company has signed a contract to allow giant oil tankers to reach Eilat port and to stock petroleum that would be then conducted in the fifty year-old pipe from Eilat to Ashkelon and from Ashkelon port, other oil tankers anchored in the Mediterranean Sea would transport the petroleum to Europe.
This will lead to congestion and pollution of the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, polluted air, and probable leaks along the pipeline in the deserts of Arava and the Negev.
The list of health consequences is enormous:
Slow down of desalination factories which provide drinkable water.
Air pollution due to dirtiest fuels handling. It is known that there is unbearable pollution caused by maritime shipping. Invisible particles enter lungs, blood vessels and arteries. Thermal cameras clearly show the carbonic gaz emanation. And as it has been mentioned numerous times, it is cancerous.
We have the duty to inform the population and to find ways to change the course of these decisions that would lead to disastrous ecological problems. These environmental organizations are trying to find legal, creative and safe ways to protect our country. This is why the main environmental organizations joined forces.
